When to Retire Your Flag

According to the U.S. Flag Code...

Section: 176. Respect For the Flag

  • k - The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.

If You Need To Retire Your Older, Damaged, Soiled or Tattered U.S. Flag:

If you have a flag in need of retirement and do not have a local organization which collects American Flags for proper ceremonial burning, indicate on your order and we will send you a postage paid return envelope. We will see to it that your flag is respectfully retired by local Boy Scout Troops in conjunction with local Military personnel, Veterans and the VFW or American Legion. Thank you for taking care of your flag and for replacing it when it is no longer a fitting representation of our country.

We Only Retire American Flags

Do Not Mail us flags from other countries or state or seasonal flags.

We will take any American Flag regardless of condition or size, as long as it fits in the return envelope. If the flag is dirty, please clean or wash it before mailing.
