Colorado State Flag

Colorado became a state in 1877 but did not adopt a state flag until 1911. The Colorado State Flag was designed by Andrew Carson. The field is comprised of three stripes; the two outer stripes are blue and the middle stripe white. Just to the left of center is a red letter "C". The colors used in the Colorado State Flag are the same shades as the red, white and blue of the national flag. They also represent environment of the state. The gold symbolizes sunshine, the blue represents the clear blue skies, the white signifies the snow capped mountains and the red represents the state's red soil.
